More Counties Approved for FEMA Assistance Under Presidential Major Disaster Declaration
Governor Kim Reynolds on Wednesday announced that Cherokee and Palo Alto are among a few additional counties approved to receive public assistance for emergency protective measures and permanent work under the previously approved FEMA Major Disaster Declaration for Iowa counties where significant damage was sustained from severe weather events, including flooding.
O’Brien County Fair Continues In Primghar
Primghar, Iowa — The O’Brien County Fair continues in Primghar through Thursday. This Wednesday, July 24th is the last full day of the fair. Activities will include a swine show in the show ring, the Clover Kids’ Pet Show on the Wayne Maass Memorial Stage, and the Roster Crowing Contest at the Poultry Barn. The commercial building and the petting zoo will both open at 10 a.m.
O’Brien County Added to FEMA List of Disaster Recovery Centers
FEMA is opening a Disaster Recovery Center in O’Brien County Wednesday to provide one-on-one help to people affected by severe storms, tornadoes and flooding this spring. Recovery specialists from FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration will provide information on available services, explain assistance programs and help survivors complete or check the status of their applications. The O’Brien County Disaster Recovery Center will be located at the Sheldon City Hall – 416 9th St. Hours will be from 1-6pm Wednesday, July 24, then daily from 8am to 6pm.
