A 60-year-old Lusby man charged with attempted murder is among those indicted June 17 by a Calvert County grand jury.

Anthony Joseph Holland was served a five-count indictment related to a May 9 incident in which a 37-year-old Prince Frederick man was stabbed several times.

The incident happened in the Yardley Hills neighborhood of Prince Frederick.

According to Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Detective Michael Mudd, the wounded man, identified as Calvert Antonio Robertson, was flown to a regional trauma center and was reported in stable condition.

In addition to first-degree attempted murder, Holland was indicted for first-degree assault, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and altering physical evidence in a crime process.

Holland has been held without bond since his June 18 arrest.

Holland is being represented by Crofton attorney James Zafiropulos, who was once Calvert County’s deputy state’s attorney. The case against Holland is being prosecuted by Allison C. Walton of the local state’s attorney’s office.

A pre-trial conference on the case is scheduled for August with a trial scheduled for November.

    Other indictments issued

The grand jury handed down two separate indictments against Ronald J. Strain, 58, of Prince Frederick, in connection with two separate alleged burglaries that occurred April 27 and May 1 at businesses in the Prince Frederick area.

In addition to burglary, the indictment counts Strain faces include theft, attempted theft, attempted burglary and malicious destruction of property.

Strain is being represented in both cases by Caitlin J. Lomazzo of the public defenders’ office.

The grand jury also handed down an 11-count indictment against Jeremiah Michael Devante Morris, 21, of Washington, D.C. The defendant allegedly led deputies on a high-speed chase in the north end of the county on May 3.

After losing control of the vehicle near Dunleigh Drive in Dunkirk, the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office reported the defendant attempted to flee into a wooded area but was swiftly apprehended.

Morris posted $10,000 bond the day of his arrest and was released.

The indictment charges him with two misdemeanor handgun violations and several traffic violations, including attempting to elude police, reckless driving, negligent driving and unsafe lane change.

Morris’ initial appearance in circuit court is set for July 29.
