Burglars crashed a vehicle through the front door of the Camarillo Gun Store Monday and stole firearms from the business, authorities said.

The commercial burglary was reported at 4:20 a.m. at the shop at 1780 Ventura Blvd., said Ventura County Sheriff's Capt. Rob Yoos.

A blue Kia sedan rear-ended the entrance of the business to get inside, said Senerey De Los Santos, a spokesperson for the sheriff's office.

Authorities later confirmed the Kia had been stolen several hours before the incident in Camarillo. The sheriff's office is contracted to provide police services in the city.

After the crash, the burglars went in and smashed several glass cases to steal the guns, De Los Santos said. They didn't take ammunition or cash.

As of Monday afternoon, the exact number and type of firearms taken wasn't known, authorities said. An inventory was being conducted.

The burglars apparently used a second vehicle to flee the scene, officials said. No arrests had been announced as of Tuesday morning.

On Monday, the outgoing voicemail for the store said the business was closed and would reopen on Tuesday.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Schaum Song at 805-388-5119 or Detective Frank Corona at 805-388-5115.
