Flash flood warning issued for Luzerne County early Wednesday evening
The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning at 3:34 p.m. on Wednesday in effect until 5:30 p.m. for Luzerne County. "At 3:34 p.m., Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1.5 to 2.5 inches per hour. Street flooding is ongoing and flash flooding is expected to begin shortly," according to the weather service. "Additional thunderstorms moving into the area will continue torrential rainfall over the next couple hours."
