CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — Several blighted buildings in Cresson Township are being demolished, including an abandoned motel.

The structures, located at 8191, 8193 & 8215 Admiral Peary Highway, are being demolished through a contract with Locher Demolition & Excavating, LLC. These are the final demolitions through the Act 152.

Beginning March 1, 2017, the Act 152 fees have been collected by the Recorder of Deeds and the fees have created a fund in order to raze blighted properties throughout Cambria County. The demolition funds are overseen by the Redevelopment Authority of Cambria County.

“Cresson Township is paving the way for economic development by having these structures
demolished through the County’s Act 152 demolition program” Commissioner Scott Hunt said.
“Once the Act 152 demolitions are complete and the hazardous materials are removed through
their EPA Brownfield grant, Cresson will be able to advertise the sale of the site to potential
    developers.”
