A Child Was Locked Inside WNY Home For 2 Years
A child was forcibly held inside a Western New York home for two years. The victim was locked inside the home for extended periods of home and denied their basic needs. Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announced that a 58-year-old woman was been sentenced in the case before State Supreme Court Justice Deborah A. Haendiges. The victim was threatened and forced to stay inside a Cheektowaga home in the bedroom or garage for long periods of time. The child was denied their basic necessities, including food, clothing, and access to a bathroom. The abuse happened over the course of more than two years. The victim was also physically abused by the couple, including being strangled to the point of losing consciousness.
Police continue search for missing Niagara woman
Niagara Regional Police detectives are continuing to search for a missing woman. 68 year-old Galextra Kavanaugh, who also goes by the name of Selma Paul, was reported missing on May 27, and was last seen in the area of Bridge Street and Fourth Avenue travelling towards Stanley Avenue in Niagara Falls.
