    Cambridge boys golf ninth out of 41 teams at Washington County Invite; Nottestad ties for second

    Cambridge senior Cade Nottestad tied for second place at this weekend’s Washington County Invitational held at Hartford Golf Course and Washington County Golf Course.

    Nottestad shot an even-par 72 on Friday at Hartford GC before firing a 2-over 74 on Saturday at Washington County. He was one of four players who shot 146 for the event, finishing a stroke behind Waterford junior Robbie Meyers, who shot 74-71.

    Cambridge shot rounds of 326 and 314 to finish ninth in the 41-team predominantly Division 1 tournament featuring a slew of state-ranked teams.

    Blue Jay junior Kian Bystol-Flores shot rounds of 78-75 to place 11th individually.

    Junior Matt Buckman shot 86-83, freshman Jack Baker shot 90-82 and freshman Benjamin Baker shot 90-84.

    Columbus Country Club

    Defending Division 3 state champion Cambridge opened its golf season by shooting 164 to win the Capitol Conference mini meet at Columbus Country Club on Thursday, April 12.

    Cambridge senior Cade Nottestad and junior Kian Bystol-Flores posted matching rounds of 1-under 36 to share medalist honors.

    Junior Andrew Smith shot 44 and junior Matt Buckman shot 48 for the Blue Jays, who won the team crown by 15 strokes over New Glarus.

    Team scores: Cambridge 164, New Glarus 179, Monticello/Belleville 180, Lakeside Lutheran 183, Lodi 183, Lake Mills 186, Columbus 206, Wisconsin Heights 229.
