Cy Young Youth League will have blitz ball fundraising tournament in September
NEWCOMERSTOWN − The Cy Young Youth League has been thinking outside of the box for local fundraising to benefit improvements and other costs associated with the league. "Several of us set around after a board meeting discussing our next fundraiser and we wanted something new and fresh, different, and fun to spark interest," Jenna Marstrell said. "Nathan Watson suggested blitz ball as they knew another group that had held one and it was a success. I admit I was the first to say what is blitz ball which in turn I was laughed at then told wiffle ball. We then formed a group to oversee and plan the blitz ball tournament which includes myself, Amy and Mitch Barron and Nathan. Many of our board members are experienced in running baseball tournaments, so we are hoping that will be helpful in orchestrating this tournament."
