    Things to do: Festivals, fishing, fun and Flamingo Run for the week ahead

    Flamingo Run

    Join Hospice of Guernsey as they run for a hospice. Dress up in your wackiest flamingo gear and head to Cambridge City Park The event will feature a 10K run, 5K run, 5K walk, and a one-mile memorial walk. The cost to register for the 10k is $30 through July 8, then increasing to $40 from July 9-13. The cost for the other events is $25 for adults and $20 for kids under 12 through July 8 with the rate increasing to $35 from July 9-13. The race is scheduled to run from 8 -11 am. The ever-famous Golden Flamingo trophies will go to the school, business, and family groups with the most participants. For more information call 740-432-7440.     Folk Festival

    Quaker City reigns will be bustling with the 120th Ohio Hills Folk Festival. Running July 10-13, this massive festival will keep you entertained every step of the way. The mile-long parade returns along with some of the best festival noodles in the area served at the fireman's tent. There will be an art show, car show, bike race, carnival rides, quilt show, and more. Live music from Bridjez, the Love Brothers, Carson Clouse and others will keep your toes tapping.     Fishing derby

    Deerassic will host the second of three youth fishing derbies from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 12. The cost to register is $10 and the event is open to those ages 5 to 15. Fishing poles, bait, and equipment will be provided. Youth participants will receive a $10 gift card to the Deerassic gift shop upon arrival and all youth participants will receive a free fishing pole.     Pottery Festival

    Head to the Crooksville Village Park and enjoy a weekend full of activities. The 59th annual festival returns July 11-13. Visit the pottery plant, watch a pizza-eating contest, do some ax throwing or challenge your friends to a lip sync battle. This is a free, family-friendly event.     Stars and Stripes

    The Zanesville Jaycees will once again celebrate America's birth on July 3-4 with Stars and Stripes on the River. There will be food trucks, kids inflatables, adult beverages, and, of course, fireworks. Stop in on the 3rd and enjoy adult beverages available from 3 to 10 p.m. Events kick off at 11 a.m. on the 4th with the grand fireworks display at dusk.
