    Irish Hills Chamber: Celebrate summer with live music at Walker Tavern Historic Site

    Walker Tavern Historic Site/Cambridge Junction Historic State Park invites you on Thursday, July 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. to enjoy a cool evening in the shaded lawn of the Hewitt House as you listen to some live music by Jackson Uke with Patriotic Theme. Bring a friend, bring a lawn chair, bring a picnic and celebrate summer. The Friends of Walker Tavern will have their root beer for sale. Admission is free. Donations are accepted. Recreation Passport required for park entry.

    The Great American Crab Races, presented by M-R Builders and hosted by The Beach Bar take place Thursday July 11 through Saturday July 13. The kids' races are at 1 p.m. on Saturday and the adult races start each night at 6 p.m. For more information contact Linda at 745-2466.

    Hidden Lake Gardens is holding “The Art of Bonsai” from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 13. This summer celebration is for bonsai artists, enthusiasts or anyone new to bonsai. Discover the distinct discipline, persistence and quiet contemplation only bonsai can provide. Events include a bonsai exhibition showcasing trees from across Michigan and beyond, a bonsai vendor fair with a wide variety of vendors, demonstrations by highly skilled bonsai artists as well as bonsai workshops.     Heart of the Lakes Church is holding the “HOTLWOOD Festival” from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, July 13. This festival is free and open to everyone. Immerse yourself in a day of fun with carnival games, exciting prizes, a sing-along concert, dunk tank thrills, bounce houses, food trucks and so much more.     The Brokerage House Lakeside is holding a Kid Entrepreneur sale event from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 17.     St. Mark’s Lutheran Church hosts a Diaper Closet the third Saturday of each month. The next one is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 20. There is no residency requirement or income verification, just a need. For those who are new, organizers just need your name, city, children’s ages and how you heard about the closet.
