BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - Vermont film director Jay Craven is taking his latest film, “Lost Nation” on the road across Vermont this month. The Revolutionary War-era action drama is set in the early upstart Republic of Vermont and focuses on Ethan Allen and pioneering frontier poet and rights advocate Lucy Terry Prince, who was enslaved at the age of three in western Massachusetts and settled a Vermont homestead.
Milton paradegoers celebrate holiday’s unity of purpose
MILTON, Vt. (WCAX) - Milton residents gathered Thursday for the annual Independence Day parade. From traditionalists to daredevils, it was a parade to remember for all ages. “This is my first parade ever -- 79 years--old,” said Milton’s John Perrotte. “It’s overwhelming to see the amount of people from the town who join in and the old cars, the tractors --it’s just beautiful.”
Colchester holds 53rd annual Independence Day parade
Colchester’s annual Independence Day parade entered its 53rd year this Fourth of July. This year’s parade was held in honor of State Senator Dick Mazza of Colchester, who passed away in May. The parade included floats from several community organizations, local businesses and politicians. Youth organizations like local scout troops and sports teams got in on the action too, including Colchester’s own District 1 Little League champion softball team.
