Mountain biking has been such a popular club sport at Woodstock Union High School that next fall, it will be a varsity sport for the first time. Judge declares mistrial in case of Vermont sheriff accused of kicking inmate
NORTH HERO, Vt. (AP) — A judge has declared a mistrial after the jury deadlocked in the case of a Vermont sheriff accused of kicking an inmate. Franklin County Sheriff John Grismore was charged with simple assault for kicking a shackled inmate in 2022 when he was a captain with the department. The jury on Wednesday spent four hours deliberating before telling the judge it could not reach a unanimous decision.

Burlington North Avenue assault ends in arrest
BURLINGTON, Vt. — At approximately 11:01 a.m., the Burlington Police Department responded to a reported assault on North Avenue. Police say they determined that 37-year-old Robert Warner had struck the victim several times in the head. The victim was evaluated and transported to the University of Vermont Medical Center.
