Clinton’s Ashley Theisen pitched one heck of a game on Tuesday, May 14 against Cambridge.

Theisen pitched a complete game, issued zero walks, recorded 19 strikeouts and allowed just one hit as the Cougars won 4-0 over the Blue Jays at Whitewater High School.

Theisen retired the last 10 Cambridge batters she faced via a strikeout. Cambridge junior Megan Bernhardt had the lone hit off Theisen, recording a two-out single in the third.

With the dominant pitching of Theisen, the Cougars did just enough on offense to get the win.

In the third, London Winch plated two runs on a sacrifice bunt and also scored on a sacrifice bunt from Kylie Goodendorf later in the frame. Clinton also scored an additional run in the fifth.

While Theisen earned the win in the circle, Cambridge senior pitcher Saveea Freeland recorded a strong outing as well. Freeland recorded 11 strikeouts, allowed just three hits and issued four walks.

Cambridge is 5-9 on the season and 3-5 in the Capitol South Conference.

The Blue Jays drew the sixth seed for the Division 4 playoffs and will face Deerfield, the No. 3 seed, on Tuesday, May 21 at 5 p.m. at Deerfield High School.
