    Cambridge track: Ava Williams wins 300 hurdles at conference championships

    The Cambridge track and field team won one event at the Capitol Conference Championships at Lake Mills High School on Tuesday, May 14.

    For the girls, sophomore Ava Williams won the 300-meter hurdles in 47.78 seconds. Also in the 300-meter hurdles, sophomore Malina Schneider (49.56) placed third.

    The 4x100 relay team of senior Mya Lehmann, junior Katherine Brown, sophomore Tessa Schmude and freshman Emillie Behm ran second at 53.13 seconds.

    Schmude, freshman Jill Thompson, Schneider and Williams placed second in the 4x200 relay at 1:51.95.

    Behm, senior Mara Brown, freshman Macy Robinson and freshman Tara Bettenhausen ran third in the 4x400 relay at 4:29.15.

    Thompson (27.89) placed fourth in the 200-meter dash. Junior Mallorri Buonincontro (7-6) tied for fourth in the pole vault.

    In the 400-meter dash, Bettenhausen (1:05.79) and Robinson (1:07.03) took fifth and seventh. In the 100-meter hurdles, Williams (16.74) and Schneider (17.71) ran fifth and sixth.

    Sophomore Bella Warpinski (96-10) scored sixth in the discus throw. Thompson (15-8.5) finished sixth in the long jump.

    The girls team took sixth with 66 points in the girls competition.

    For the boys, junior Drew Holzhueter placed second in the 110-meter hurdles at 15.98 seconds. Holzhueter also placed fifth in the 300-meter hurdles at 42.03 seconds.

    The 4x400 relay team of Holzhueter, sophomore Owain Nelles, junior Brian Hottman and freshman Elias Reese finished third at 3:41.48.

    Freshman Trevor Polster (19-7.75) scored fifth in the long jump. Nelles (53.50) ran sixth in the 400 meter.

    The 4x800 relay team of senior Sam Hanson, sophomore Kai Knoot, junior Evan Roidt and sophomore Mason Sonnenberg placed seventh at 9:16.19.

    The 4x100 relay team of junior Kyle Polster, Trevor Polster, sophomore Travis Colts and sophomore Oden Jaskolski finished seventh at 47.59 seconds. The same four ran eighth in the 4x200 at 1:37.70.

    Hottman (2:15.79) took eighth in the 800 meter. Cambridge finished eighth in the boys competition with 31 points.

    Lodi won the girls competition with 132.5 points. Lakeside Lutheran won the boys competition with 188 points.
