Dale Nottestad won the Newville Auto Salvage 50-lap late model feature at Jefferson Speedway on Saturday night.

Nottestad, a Cambridge native, came from the 12th starting position to take the lead following a spirited battle with Marshall’s Karter Stark near the halfway point in the event.

Nottestad then held off a determined challenge from Markesan’s Michael Guderski to post his first win of the season. Guderski finished second by half a car length at the line.

Lake Mills’ Shaun Scheel, last week’s winner, took third. Stark was fourth, followed by Dousman’s Dylan Schuyler and Marshall’s Seth Reamer.

Brodhead’s Robert Hansberry won the 35-lap sportsman feature by methodically working his way to the front of the field after a spirited battle with Janesville’s Jake Biever and Johnson Creek’s Nick Bruley. Jefferson’s Jason Thoma was fourth and Jefferson’s Kyle Chwala finished fifth.

Deerfield’s Robbie Rucks won the 25-lap Hobby Stock feature, coming from deep in the field to take the lead late in the race following an intense three-car battle with Waunakee’s Chico Riedner and Jefferson’s Chase Wangsness.

Milton’s Avery Linnerude finished third, followed by Janesville’s Tony Ciano and Watertown’s Ethen Degner.

Watertown’s Matt Krinke won the 20-lap Bandit race, nipping Columbus’ Max Larson and Johnson Creek’s Trent Rueth to post the win. Lake Mills’ Carli Lenz took fourth and Brodhead’s Ryan Oetzel finished fifth.

Oregon’s Mike Peterson won a ruckus six-shooter feature after trading paint with Sparta’s Tim Murphy and Oregon’s Ron Osborne. Jeremy Bingham, Loves Park, Ill., was fourth, and Janesville’s Jason Van Hise took fifth.

The Jefferson Speedway hosts two events on Memorial Day weekend. On Saturday night, ASA Super Late Models will battle in the Salute the Troops 100-lap main event.

The Sportsman class will compete in a 50-lap feature, the Hobby Stocks a 40-lap feature plus a 25-lap Bandit feature along with preliminary events. Racing starts at 6:00 p.m.

Sunday night is the first of the wildly popular Tournament Of Destruction, including Trailer Race, Bubble Race, Gauntlet, Reverse Race, Spin To Win with the show topped off by Wolverine Fireworks.
