    HTL: Cambridge routs McFarland in regular-season finale

    MCFARLAND — With the Blues holding a 5-4 lead over host McFarland after the sixth inning, Cambridge used two big innings, scoring six runs in the seventh and four runs in the eighth, to earn a 15-4 win on Sunday in Home Talent League baseball action.

    In the seventh, Jace Horton hit a two-run single, Connor O’Brien hit an RBI double, Chase Jarlsberg plated a run on an RBI single and Sam Mickelson scored a run on a sacrifice fly.

    In the eighth, Mickelson hit an RBI single and Jared Marty drew a bases-loaded walk.

    Mickelson, Horton and Jarlsberg each drove in two runs for Cambridge (11-3 overall).

    Evans earned the win, pitching five innings of relief. He allowed two earned runs on six hits.

    Carter Lund started for the Blues, pitching three innings while allowing a pair of runs on three hits.

    Cambridge finishes first in the Southeast North Division and won a head to head tiebreaker for the No. 1 overall seed in the Southeast Section playoffs with Utica and hosts fourth-seeded Evansville on Sunday, Aug. 4.

    The winner of that game will face second-seeded Utica or third-seeded Fort Atkinson on Aug. 11 for a berth in the HTL Final Four.
