PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A new $32 million trail in Camden County that would wind its way from the Benjamin Franklin Bridge to Winslow Township has taken a step forward.

The proposed LINK Trail system would span 34 miles over highways and parks, literally linking the county together, which officials believe would have a positive economic impact on the county’s 36 municipalities.

“People understand that this is an amenity to the county. It enhances their quality of life for both residents and businesses,” said Camden County Commissioner Jeffrey Nash. “It’s a recreational opportunity. It’s family entertainment at no cost, and it’s also an economic engine.”

The trail is one step closer to becoming a reality. Nash said the county is still in the early stages of planning, but it has received a lot of positive feedback at public meetings.

“Public participation is very important because this is truly a community trail,” he added.

The next public input session is Wednesday, July 31 at the Star Building, 100 Erial Road in Sicklerville, from 6 to 8 p.m.
