Willie Nelson will no longer perform at his “Outlaw Music Festival Tour” stop on Tuesday (July 2) in Mansfield, Massachusetts, his team confirmed in a statement hours before the show.
Nelson, 91, has missed the first several shows on his tour because of an unspecified illness that prompted doctor-ordered rest . The latest statement shared to his social media pages states that the legendary country artist is expected to return to the stage for his 4th of July Picnic in Camden, New Jersey.
“Willie Nelson is looking forward to seeing everyone in Camden on July 4. He will not be performing in Mansfield today,” the statement reads . “ Bob Dylan , Robert Plant and Alison Krauss , and Celisse will perform as scheduled. In addition, Lukas Nelson and Family, along with some special guests, will once again play his own set that will include Willie’s classics and other songs.”
The recent statements have stirred concern among some fans, including Instagram users who commented that they’re “worried” about Nelson and sent well-wishes amid his recovery. Nelson’s team said in the first announcement on June 21, in part: “We regret to inform you that Willie Nelson is not feeling well and, per doctor’s orders, has been advised to rest for the next four days. He is expected to make a quick recovery and join the Outlaw Music Festival tour next week.” Other statements since then have continued to note that Nelson would not perform; however, the team noted over the weekend that Nelson “has been cleared by his doctors to go back on the road again,” and he will resume performances “next week.”
