On July 24, 2024, at approximately 3:32 p.m., an accident occurred on Highway 169 at Dewey Avenue in Gower. The incident involved a 2013 Honda Pilot and a 2013 Dodge Durango. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened when the Honda Pilot, driven by Matthew Aviles, 51, of Smithville, Missouri, was stopped on Highway 169 to make a westbound turn. The Durango, driven by Russell Plummer, 73, of Gower, Missouri, struck the rear of the Pilot.
