Denver, Colorado, might be far from the Mississippi Delta, but that doesn’t mean it’s lacking in fantastic catfish dishes. During my recent trip to Denver, I explored some of the best places to enjoy this Southern delicacy. Here are the highlights of my catfish adventure in Denver.

    Lucile’s Creole Cafe

Lucile’s Creole Cafe brings the vibrant flavors of Louisiana to Denver with its warm, inviting atmosphere and authentic Creole cuisine. The Blackened Catfish, seasoned to perfection and served with a side of red beans and rice, was a standout. The fish was tender and flavorful, with just the right amount of spice, making each bite a delight.

    The Denver Catfish Company

The Denver Catfish Company specializes in fresh, Southern-style catfish dishes that are sure to satisfy. The casual, friendly environment makes it a great spot for a relaxed meal. The Fried Catfish Basket, featuring crispy, golden catfish fillets served with hush puppies and coleslaw, was a highlight. The perfectly fried fish and traditional sides made for a comforting and delicious meal.

    Bayou Bob’s

Bayou Bob’s brings a taste of the South to Denver with its rustic decor and hearty Cajun dishes. The Catfish Po’ Boy, loaded with crispy fried catfish, lettuce, tomato, and remoulade sauce on a soft baguette, was a delicious choice. The crunchy catfish and tangy sauce created a perfect balance of flavors, making it a must-try.

    Tupelo Honey

Tupelo Honey offers a modern twist on Southern cuisine with a focus on fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The chic, contemporary setting adds to the dining experience. The Sweet Tea Brined Catfish, served with a side of creamy grits and collard greens, was exceptional. The unique brining process gave the fish a subtle sweetness that paired beautifully with the savory sides.

    Big Daddy’s Barbeque

Big Daddy’s Barbeque is a hidden gem known for its hearty portions and authentic Southern flavors. The Catfish Dinner, featuring fried catfish fillets, baked beans, and cornbread, was a standout. The catfish was perfectly seasoned and fried to a golden brown, making it a delicious and satisfying meal.
