Vails Brothers Shrimp Chicken & Fish is one of those hidden gems I’d driven past countless times without giving it a second thought. A year ago, I finally decided to stop in, and I’ve been hooked ever since. The staff here is incredibly friendly, making you feel welcome from the moment you walk in.

My girlfriend decided to try the tripe sandwich, and she couldn't stop raving about it. She has a discerning palate, especially when it comes to tripe, and she immediately noticed that it had been properly cleaned and prepared, which made all the difference. According to her, it was amazing—one of the best she’s had.

As for me, I can’t get enough of their wings. Each order seems to be hand-breaded on the spot, resulting in a thin, crispy coating that perfectly complements the juicy, flavorful meat inside. These aren’t jumbo wings, either—thankfully. In my book, jumbo wings are more of a curse than a blessing, often sacrificing flavor for size. But at Vails Brothers, they’ve nailed the perfect wing size.

If you stop by, I highly recommend trying their signature hot honey sauce. It adds just the right amount of sweetness and heat, taking the wings to a whole new level. Vails Brothers has quickly become a favorite of mine, and if you’re in St. Louis, it’s definitely worth a visit.
