This Hound Is Looking For New Family After Original Owners "Gave Up" On Him

(MA) Meet Shep, a 3-year-old Hound mix pup who came into rescue from a very sad surrender case. According to his Petfinder profile, Shep originally had a family to call his own, but they decided to surrender him as they were not "ready for the responsibility and patience that comes with loving a dog." They effectively gave up on him, but that's okay because now Shep has the opportunity to find a family that actually deserves him.

    More Information On Shep

Shep is a 3-year-old Hound mix pup who weighs, as of 5/03/24, approximately 60 pounds. He has a short coat length, which is listed as being red, chestnut, orange, white, cream, and black. That's a lot of color! Shep is neutered and up to date on his vaccinations.

According to Great Dog Rescue New England, Shep is an amazing pup whose main characteristics are sweet, loving, intelligent, and attentive. His fosters can not say enough good things about him. Though he was a bit overweight when he came into foster care, he has cine trimmed up nicely and is now healthy and happy.

As far as training goes, Shep is a very well-behaved boy. He is house-trained, does well in the car, and has good leash skills. He gets along with other pups of all ages and sizes and also loves human children. His only issue is being a little too interested in cats, so GDRNE recommends he goes to a home without cats.

" Shep is the best! He is sweet, attentive, loving, smart, and well behaved... we could go on and on about how great he is. He came from a sad situation previously, but he has made himself quite comfortable since coming into our care!" - Great Dog Rescue New England / Petfinder

    How Can You Help Shep?

If you are interested in adopting Shep, please fill out the adoption application form, which can be found here. He is available for adoption to anyone 24 or older and living in New England, NY, NJ, or PA.

Another huge thing you can do to help is consider fostering! There are never enough fosters to meet the demands of all the pups in need. More information on fostering with Great Dog Rescue New England can be found in the fostering section of their official website.

If you cannot adopt or foster, an easy way to help is to share this article or Shep's Petfinder profile: www.petfinder.com/dog/shep
