Northbound I-17 outside Camp Verde reopens after fatal crash

Northbound Interstate-17 was closed Friday afternoon due to a deadly rollover crash near Lake Montezuma, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

At 2:33, a crash was reported on the northbound lanes of I-17 near Cornville Road, east of Lake Montezuma and less than 10 miles north of Camp Verde, according to the DPS.

At about 5:50 p.m., the northbound lanes of I-17 were reopened, according to ADOT.

The crash was a single-vehicle rollover in which one person was dead, according to a DPS spokesperson.

DPS spokesperson Bart Graves said there would be an "extended closure" of the I-17 northbound in the area.

ADOT said northbound drivers should expect delays and seek an alternate route.
