In addition to the awards ceremony, the banquet will feature live music, food and a cash bar.

Sheriff Frank Reynolds, who has served in this role since 2017, will be the keynote speaker. Reynolds, a longtime resident of Cherokee County, is married to Jennifer DeBord Reynolds, a learning support specialist at Cherokee County School District, and he is a father of three.
Kurt Lee Wheeler, a singer and songwriter born and raised in Cherokee County, will provide the live entertainment during the cocktail hour. His musical style ranges from country to bluegrass to rock. His lineup includes the song “Cherokee County,” named the official song of Cherokee County.
The Historic Preservation Awards are determined by a committee of volunteers who visit nominated properties, talk with the property owners, and learn about the sites.
In 2023, the following properties received a Historic Preservation Award: Rusk Family Cemetery in Woodstock, the Roberts Lake Dam & Power Generation Facility in Ball Ground, Dot’s Fine Wine & Craft in Ball Ground, Downtown Kitchen Building in Canton, the Wilson-Clark Home in Canton, and the Cox-Luman Homeplace in Waleska.
