Downtown Canton eatery honored with Wine Spectator's Best Restaurant for Wine Award

Wine Spectator is honoring a downtown Canton eatery and bar with a prestigious award.

Grapes in a Glass, 575 Market Ave. N, is one of the recipients of the magazine's 2024 Best Restaurants for Wine Award.

Wine Spectator, the world’s leading authority on wine, recently unveiled this year's winners. The magazine recognizes restaurants around the world that offer exceptional wine programs.

Grapes in a Glass is the only Stark County location on the list. It was recognized among 3,777 dining destinations around the U.S. and in more than 75 countries.

The award cites Grapes in a Glass' wine strengths as California, France and Argentina, also mentioning the creative American and tapas cuisine customers can enjoy during a visit.

Tamara K Jorgensen, owner, sommelier and wine educator, was thrilled with the recognition.

“We work very hard to maintain a superior wine list and we’re grateful that this recognition helps visitors and locals both to find us,” she said.

Grapes in a Glass offers more than 70 wines by the glass or a tasting flight, giving patrons an opportunity to try something that is normally unapproachable.

Launched in 1981, the Restaurant Awards represent the world’s only program focused exclusively on restaurant wine programs.

“The restaurant industry is growing and thriving, with restaurant openings surpassing pre-pandemic levels for the first time," Editor and Publisher Marvin R. Shanken said in a prepared statement. "To take advantage of the uptick, restaurateurs are investing in their wine programs. Restaurants that make wine a priority are what the Wine Spectator Restaurant Awards program is all about.”
