Patrick’s Ice Cream, a local landmark at 1101 Cleveland Ave. NW in Canton, has reopened.
New owner Joshua Maksim purchased the much-loved location in June. It temporarily was shuttered in an effort to get it into shape. Maksim said Friday by phone that it needed a lot of work.
“We had to do lots of deep cleaning. The place was a mess,” he said, adding that all the equipment needed to be replaced or repaired.

His fiancé, Ellorie Becker, and his daughter Sara were a big part of the effort. “I couldn’t have done it without their help,” Maksim said.
Maksim, a Stark County resident, said he's excited that the shop has reopened, especially with the Canton Repository Grand Parade passing by on Saturday morning. “We look forward to serving the community and appreciate customer patience with our new staff during this busy time,” he added.
