The Canyon County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that occurred at Martin Landing campground near Parma.

On Friday at about 9:30 p.m., dispatch received a report of a man who was unconscious and not breathing at Martin Landing, a camping and recreation area located at the confluence of the Snake and Boise rivers near Parma, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

CCSO deputies arrived on scene and located a male subject, approximately 40 years old, who was deceased.

The CCSO crime lab and detectives responded to the scene. Based on the circumstances and evidence collected at the scene, the sheriff’s office is ruling it as a homicide, the news release stated.

Anyone who was in the area of the incident on the day/evening of July 12 and has information that could assist with the investigation is asked contact the sheriff's at 208-454-7531 or Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS.

The investigation remains ongoing, and next of kin has been notified.

“At this time, we do not have a suspect in custody,” Sheriff Kieran Donahue said in the release. “While this appears to be an isolated incident, the public should remain cautious and be aware that criminality of a violent nature does exist in our society. As always, if you see something that seems suspicious or out of the ordinary, please don’t hesitate to contact law enforcement.”
