Police identify Canyon County campground homicide victim

Authorities have identified the victim of Friday’s homicide at a Canyon County campground .

Parma resident Travis Haywood Calumpit, 37, died of a gunshot wound, the Canyon County Sheriff’s Office said in a Monday afternoon news release. CCSO deputies found Calumpit deceased after 9:30 p.m. Friday at Martin Landing campground after dispatch received a report of a man unconscious and not breathing. Evidence collected at the scene led to the sheriff’s office ruling Calumpit’s death a homicide.

Martin Landing is a camping and recreation area located at the confluence of the Snake and Boise rivers near Parma.

The investigation is ongoing, the sheriff’s office said. A suspect has not been publicly identified.
