Human Remains Found Confirmed to be Missing Texas Woman
Recently discovered human remains put an end to a tragic weeks-long search for a Texas woman who went missing while on vacation with her husband. The Grand County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the human remains discovered on July 22 belong to Miranda Ankofski, who went missing with her husband during their annual Moab trip in June.

Suspect arrested in Florida for Texas fraud cases
SMITH COUNTY, Texas - An elderly couple in Smith County fell victim to a fraudulent asphalt paving scheme in March 2020, leading to the arrest of Timothy Mark Adams in Florida.The couple had seen an advertisement on Facebook and hired Adams, paying him $3,000 in advance for driveway paving that was never completed. Smith County investigators linked Adams to similar scams in Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, and Texas, and obtained two felony theft warrants and a grand jury indictment against him in 2020. Adams fled and sent threatening messages to one of the victims, according to the Smith County Sheriff's Office.On July 29, 2024, Smith County Fraud Investigator John Partlow received a tip about Adams' whereabouts. Adams was located and arrested at an RV park in Perry, Florida, by Taylor County Sheriff's investigators. He is currently awaiting extradition to Smith County."Never hire anyone for home repair services until you thoroughly check them out," Detective Partlow advised. "Never pay anyone up front for services until the work is completed unless they require money for materials during the project. Asphalt driveway scammers are one of the most prevalent forms of this type of fraudulent activity and cost victims thousands of dollars each year."

Texas Water Board details how it will spend $1 billion for water infrastructure projects
Texas last week began dividing $1 billion in taxpayer approved money among different types of water infrastructure and supply projects. Most of the money will go toward lowinterest loan programs to help cities and water systems upgrade drinking water systems and water conservation projects. LABADIEVILLE— A woman from Texas is now in jail after Assumption Parish Sheriff's deputies found multiple illegal drugs in her car after she was pulled over for speeding.
