Police investigate 3-vehicle crash that closed Route 6 at Harwich, Brewster

A three-vehicle crash closed down both lanes of Route 6 Monday afternoon near the Brewster and Harwich town line. The crash occurred at approximately 3:15 p.m., according to a statement from Massachusetts State Trooper Brandon Doherty .

The two-lane highway remained closed in both directions at 6:30 p.m. due to the crash investigation.

The crash happened just east of exit 85. The highway intersects with Route 137 at that exit. On X, state police described the area of the crash as the Harwich / Brewster town line.

Two drivers had serious injuries, one life-threatening.

There was no word Monday evening on the possible causes of the crash.

As the time of the crash, Cape Cod was under a severe thunderstorm watch with reporting flooding and lightning strikes in the region .
