Runners and walkers are encouraged to bring their dogs to the Cape Coral Animal Shelter’s Walk, Wiggle, Wag and Run.

Go for a run and support the Cape Coral Animal Shelter as you mingle with both two-legged and four-legged friends.

On Saturday, March 23, the shelter will host a 5K run, walk and family fun event. Runners and walkers are encouraged to bring their pets to the festivities. The event is happening at the shelter which is located at 325 SW 2nd Ave. in Cape Coral.

The 5K will raise money for the homeless, unwanted and neglected animals getting care at the Cape Coral Animal Shelter.

In addition to the 5K, there will be a 1-mile dog friendly strut around the neighborhood and shelter campus.

Participants are asked to register to run and/or walk and also seek sponsors to raise money for the animals at shelter. Teams are encouraged and there will be prizes for the top fundraiser and the top fundraising team.

The morning will also feature music, vendors, food trucks and activities for the whole family. The highlight will be a pet talent and costume contest where pets are encouraged to show off their tricks and cuteness. Dogs are welcome and must be on a standard leash. (Retractable leashes are not allowed.) The run starts at 8 a.m., with placement and fun awards at 9:30 a.m. The “strut” starts at 10 a.m. and the talent contest starts at 11 a.m. Tours of the shelter will follow. The shelter is open for adoptions and the clinic will be open for clients.

Subaru of Fort Myers is the title sponsor for this event for the third year in a row, and they have been happy to help “Share the Love” which is part of their mission.

“Subaru of Fort Myers has been the title sponsor from the beginning, and we are so grateful for their continued support” said Executive Director Liz McCauley. “This has become Subaru of Fort Myers’ signature event for us, and having our pups go to their showroom and pose in their very pet-friendly vehicles has been a bonus!”

“CCAS brings hope to homeless dogs and cats by understanding their needs and bringing an increased level of awareness to the intolerance of animal abuse in our community,” said Pamela Aubuchon, chairperson of Walk, Wiggle, Wag & Run and CCAS Board vice president. “This family-friendly, dog friendly event allows each of us to be part of our mission of making a difference for the animals of our community.”
