As the 2024 Elections approach on Tuesday, August 20, Sandy Frank, the President of the League of Women Voters of Lee County, Inc. (LWVLee), is calling on all eligible voters to make their voices heard through the ballot box.

Understanding the profound impact elected officials have on various aspects of daily life, from healthcare and education to energy costs and job opportunities, LWVLee emphasizes the importance of both registering to vote and making informed decisions.

Voters from all walks of life, regardless of party affiliation, are encouraged to participate in these elections. The ballot will feature nonpartisan races, including those for the School Board, Cape Coral and Fort Myers city councils, judiciary positions, Property Appraiser, and Supervisor of Elections. For those affiliated with a political party, the ballot will additionally include candidates representing their party’s choices.

In anticipation of the Primary Election on August 20, LWVLee is organizing Candidate Forums. These forums are designed to provide voters the chance to familiarize themselves with the candidates’ philosophies and positions. Notably, the forums for Cape Coral City Council Districts 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7 are scheduled for Monday, July 8, at the Cape Coral Library from 5:30 to 7 p.m., presenting a valuable opportunity for the public to engage directly with potential city council members.
