Cape Coral High School head football coach Issac Harvin has been sidelined while the Lee County School District investigates an undisclosed complaint against him.

District spokesperson Rob Spicker confirmed Harvin has been temporarily removed from his coaching position pending the result of the investigation. Harvin was suspended on May 31, the final day of the 2023-24 school year. Spicker said the investigation is expected to be concluded before the start of school in August.

Harvin did not immediately return a message seeking comment Wednesday.

The 49-year-old Cape Coral High alum was officially named the Seahawks' head coach this spring after serving two seasons as an associate head coach under Larry Gary. He won his debut on May 23 as Cape Coral topped Oasis 40-20 in a preseason classic. Just over a week later, Harvin was removed.

Cape Coral athletic director Tom Kenna said Seahawks assistant coaches Jaylen Watkins and Tyler Murphy are leading the football team through summer workouts. Watkins, a former football standout at Cape Coral and the University of Florida, spent seven seasons in the NFL, winning a Super Bowl as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2018.

A former football and track and field standout, Harvin won a state championship in the 200-meter run as a senior at Cape, breaking the then-Class 4A state record. He also finished second in the 100 meters. He was inducted into the Lee County Athletic Conference Hall of Fame in 2022.
