Humpback Whale Spotted near Dana Point Recently Freed from Entanglement
A weeklong hunt to help an entangled juvenile humpback whale finally ended on Friday, July 19, when rescue teams were able to reach the whale and free it. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Adminstration (NOAA) Fisheries was immediately notified after the first sighting of the whale, but one of its vessels went on a chase up and down the coast throughout the week to catch up with the reportedly skittish whale.
