16-year-old arrested in Ernest St. homicide
LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - A second arrest has been made in connection to the June 22 shooting on Ernest Street that left one man dead. A 16-year-old boy was arrested today in Carencro, according to the Lake Charles Police Department. The arrest was made with the assistance of the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office.

‘Food for Seniors’ distribution canceled for month of July
SWLA, La. (KPLC) - The Food for Seniors Program’s food box distribution for the month of July has been canceled. The program, which serves to eliminate hunger in the local senior citizen population by providing nutritional food boxes, is now sponsored by Feeding Louisiana. Catholic Charities of New Orleans previously held the contract for the program.
