Big Ten basketball poses challenges for conference newcomers, Danny Sprinkle says: 'It's going to be brutal'
The transition from Pac-12 basketball to Big Ten basketball will come with a learning curve, in more ways than one, for the four schools making that move ahead of the 2024-25 season. Major increases in travel and an uptick in competition against some of the sport's perennial powers create a new conference context that first-year Washington coach Danny Sprinkle said will be "brutal."

Hope you had a safe and fun 4th and didn’t get too sunburned on what was an uncharacteristically HOT Independence Day. Can’t recall many warmer and sunnier than yesterday. What a treat.

T-Mobile Park is a hitter’s house of horrors
This year, as in recent years, the Seattle Mariners have had a consistent, stalwart pitching staff attempting to hold off opponents just enough for a tepid offense to earn them the lead. Much of that is simply performance - Seattle has an above-average pitching staff anchored by a top-5 rotation that almost never provides uncompetitive outings. Meanwhile, their lineup entered the season without a slam dunk No. 3 hitter and they’ve seen mild to massive underperformance to expectations from most of their hitters. However, their home park has played a significant role in this gruesome and/or glorious display depending on the half inning.
