68th TEVIS CUP 100 miles one day ride Start: 5:15 a.m. Saturday, July 20, at Robie Park in Truckee. Finish: Saturday night at McCann Stadium, Gold Country Fairgrounds. The 68th annual Tevis Cup comes back to Auburn this weekend, as 143 riders and their trusted steeds come to the endurance capital in hopes of earning a coveted belt buckle. Riders will begin their journey Saturday morning at Robie Park in Truckee and end at McCann Stadium at the Gold Country Fairgrounds, 100 miles away.
Access to Upper Lake Clementine is closed this weekend as officials work on a plan to mitigate the unsafe traffic conditions in the area.
Auburn State Recreation Area Superintendent Lauren Shoemaker said on weekends during the busy time of the summer, vehicles have been lining up in a que along Foresthill Road. Visitors have been worried about the capacity issues of the Upper Lake Clementine parking lot, which holds 150 cars. Shoemaker said every weekend, ASRA officials have had to close the parking due to meeting capacity.
