Young and the Restless Spoilers: Ashley Return and Abby Wedding Plans

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) is setting up some exciting fall storylines, including a significant event that will bring a familiar face back to Genoa City. Abby is eagerly anticipating her wedding to Devon, but she’s determined not to walk down the aisle without her mom, Ashley, by her side.

Ashley’s Anticipated Return

Abby is excited about Devon's impending marriage, but she would rather her mother not be present. Fortunately, Abby said Ashley's physicians are hopeful Ashley will be discharged this autumn. Ashley has been receiving excellent care at a facility Alan recommended in France, and it is anticipated that she will recover enough to go home in time for Abby and Devon's November wedding.

To accommodate Ashley, Devon and Abby chose a date that fell within that autumnal window. Given that November 13 is Abby's birthday, it will be even more memorable for her to tie the knot on this already joyous occasion. Naturally, Ashley will be greeted with open arms upon her return. Fans of Y&R and Ashley's family will be happy to see her back in Genoa City after a long absence.

But Ashley's return home may raise some concerns about her mental health and whether or not she has fully overcome her dissociative identity disorder. Is Ashley going to lose her alter identity permanently? As a soap opera, there is always a chance that Ash, Belle, and Ms. Abbott will reappear. Ashley's changes could cause more trouble if there is ever a moment when Y&R needs a little more extravagant drama.

Ashley’s Past, What Triggered Her DID?

Nevertheless, Ashley appears to be sincerely making the effort to fully recover. When Ashley returns, hopefully she will be well-integrated and prepared to take on a new, healthy chapter. Of course, there will be more queries that the show must address, such as the precise cause of Ashley's DID in the first place. Ashley seems to have experienced some kind of trauma as a young child, which caused her to have multiple personalities.

Jack and Traci talked about how Ashley might have discovered far sooner than any of them had imagined that John wasn't her biological father. Ashley's changes may have started because of it, but it's also likely that there was another unspoken secret that contributed to the break and may eventually come to light.
