MINERAL WELLS — The Wood County 4-H and FFA Summer Showcase will be held from today through Saturday at the Wood County 4-H Camp on Butcher Bend Road in Mineral Wells. The Wood County 4-H and FFA Summer Showcase is open to the public today through Friday from 3-9 p.m. and Saturday will feature the Junior Livestock Sale at 12 p.m. and a concert at 7 p.m. by Sour Mash String Band. Craft and food vendors will be on site all week.
Four face indictments in northern West Virginia for federal firearms violations
CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — Four people have been indicted for violating federal firearms laws in northern West Virginia. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Todd M. Houston, 35, of Morgantown, and Kayla N. Taylor, 33, of Montrose, have been charged with conspiracy to straw purchase firearms in Monongalia County. Court documents said Taylor falsified documents to purchase firearms for Houston, who is prohibited from having firearms because of prior robbery and burglary convictions in Monongalia County Circuit Court. Damson and Houston were taken into custody while attempting to sell boxes of ammunition at an area pawn shop.

The Mountaineer Maniacs is the largest student organization on campus and official student section of WVU Sports. Here’s how to become a member of the Maniacs. To become a Maniac, students must register online for one of two membership types. Basic Membership, which costs $25 annually, includes a Maniacs tee shirt, watch party invitations, Olympic sports giveaways, away basketball and football trip invitations and a 20% discount at the Book Exchange. The Ultimate Membership costs $50 annually and offers the same benefits but guarantees football tickets.

The Art Museum of West Virginia University is welcoming a new museum director. Aaron Levi Garvey is an experienced museum curator and historian specializing in modern and contemporary art. He has worked with esteemed institutions, serving as the Janet L. Nolan Director of Curatorial Affairs at the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art at Auburn University, founding chief curator of The Hudson Eye and Long Road Projects Foundation, and chief curator of the Andy Warhol Museum.
