Starbucks set to reopen Thursday
The Starbucks at 7231 Madison St. is set to reopen July 25 after nearly two months of being closed for major renovations. . Much of the inside of the building has been redone, including an all-new cafe area, bar and back-of-house. The Starbucks’ seating has been cut by about half, though the work area for staff is much larger, according to officials from DeJames Builders, the contractor who completed the renovations.

Police: auto thieves target residences
Hinsdale Police reported incidents of attempted auto theft that occurred early Saturday morning, July 20, in the village's northeast neighborhood. According to an alert posted on the police department's social media, the incidents took place at approximately 5 a.m. in the area just north of Hinsdale Hospital. Ceremony on Chicago River marks 109th anniversary of Eastland disaster
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Descendants of the survivors of the Eastland disaster want to make sure it's never forgotten. The U.S. Coast Guard threw flower petals in the Chicago River near Clark Street on Wednesday to mark the 109th anniversary of the tragic accident. In 1915 the Eastland, a massive passenger ship, rolled over in the river, killing more than 800 people. Descendants of Eastland survivors were on hand for the ceremony."We were very fortunate that all of our family members survived.
