Montgomery man sentenced to 15 years for fatal crash
A Montgomery man is being sentenced to fifteen years in prison for the death of a passenger in his vehicle after a crash in 2022. The Kendall County State's Attorney's Office says 28-year-old Saul Muro Jr. fled from a traffic stop near Boulder Hill, crashed into a tree, and then fled the scene on foot. The front seat passenger, 26-year-old Jose A. Cardoza Chavez, of Montgomery, was killed in the crash. Muro was arrested later.
Owner of Sandwich-Area Property Charged with Animal Cruelty
If you're an animal lover, fair warning: This story will be tough to hear. A property owner in Sandwich has been charged with five criminal counts relating to animal cruelty. DeKalb County deputies arrested 60-year-old Mohammad Raza-Ahsan of Addison Tuesday morning. The Illinois Department of Agriculture conducted a months-long investigation into the goings-on at the property on Wagner Road in rural Sandwich, after the sheriff's office had received multiple complaints of foul odors and neglected animals on the property. The investigation led to the discovery of several neglected animals, as well as deceased animals that had not been properly disposed of.

A man, who is a parolee, was apprehended last night after striking a sheriff’s squad car and fleeing. On July 24, 2024, at approximately 10:00 p.m., Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies spotted a stolen Chevrolet Avalanche at a gas station in the 13900 block of West Yorkhouse Road, Unincorporated Waukegan. The driver of the stolen vehicle fled from deputies the night before.

3 children hospitalized after fire at Dearborn Homes CHA building, Chicago fire officials say
Three children were hospitalized Wednesday afternoon after a fire broke out at a high-rise building on the city's South Side.The fire happened in the 2900 block of South State Street, Chicago Fire Department officials said.
