Tragic Blaze Claims Life of Man in Buffalo Grove, Investigation Underway to Determine Cause
Source: Facebook/Buffalo Grove Professional Firefighters and Paramedics Local 3177. A Buffalo Grove home became the site of a tragic incident this Monday when firefighters and police responded to a structure fire on the 600 block of Woodhollow Lane. The conflagration, reported near 10 a.m., quickly escalated from the garage to the main structure before it could be contained. According to a village of Buffalo Grove press release, one casualty, a 39-year-old man believed to be a resident, was discovered amidst the flames.

It's been a rough tornado season and a new Illinois law is taking aim at that. We can all agree it's been a messy summer. In the Chicago area alone last week, there were 33 tornadoes, compared to their usual 5 or 6 per year. With the derecho that moved through last week, 5 tornadoes rolled through the QCA. In Iowa, May was ridiculous. We average 11 tornadoes in May. But this year, we had over 80 tornadoes in May alone.
Company That Owns Illinois Pizza Huts Files for Bankruptcy
The struggle continues for many food franchises as a company that owns many Pizza Hut locations in Illinois has reportedly filed for bankruptcy. Nation's Restaurant News reported today that EYM Pizza L.P. has filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the eastern district of Texas Monday. They said this pizza company "operates units in the South and Midwest". According to their corporate site, that includes Pizza Hut locations in Illinois.

ROGERS PARK — A six-story apartment building could be coming to a vacant Rogers Park lot, but some neighbors say the plan is too dense and doesn’t have enough parking. Developer 5035 Land Owner, LLC is asking Ald. Maria Hadden (49th) for a zoning change to move forward with building 52 apartments at 7728 N. Sheridan Road. There wouldn’t be any retail space included in the project.
