Jury convicts Newport News man for possessing cocaine in New Kent
A Newport News man whose erratic behavior led to his arrest has been convicted by a jury on possession of a Schedule I/II drug. Christopher Delyle Howard, 46, of 51 Poplar Avenue, was convicted of the crime during the July 18 trial. One charge of driving under the influence (second of subsequent offense) was dropped.

Norfolk: 18-year-old dead from gunshot wound; juvenile arrested at the scene
An 18-year-old Norfolk man is dead from a gunshot wound sustained early Thursday morning. Branden M. Davis Jr. was taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries. A 17-year-old juvenile was taken into custody at the scene and has been charged in connection with the death. He has been charged with reckless handling of a firearm causing injury and possession of a firearm by a juvenile.
