CARTHAGE, MO — In remembrance for Carthage coach Dan Armstrong, today at the Carthage Golf Course, they hosted their 3rd Annual “Dan Armstrong Legacy Foundation Golf Classic”.

The Golf Classic kicked off this morning and ran throughout the day.

The classic is held in remembrance to honor the late and former Carthage Boys Basketball and Tennis coach Dan Armstrong.

Armstrong was the Head Basketball & Tennis Coach for 17 seasons from 1983-2000.

After unfortunately passing away in 2021, his family started this foundation which is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping young athletes.

There were over 20 teams in attendance which included; old friends, family, former athletes and coaches.

We caught up with his daughter Alice on just how impactful her dad had on the Carthage community.

Alice Armstrong Habel said, “So I always said, my dad had the gift of time. And even when you didn’t know he was going to show up, he showed up. And I think that people, teeter back and forth with other kids, sports and the lake and, those kind of things. And I think when it comes down to it, that’s why people show up, because they know that this is something that he that he would have done and he wouldn’t have done it for any glory. He wouldn’t have expected any credit for it. But they know that this is the right place to be”.
