Carthage boy, 6, dies in Table Rock Lake boating incident

TANEY COUNTY, Mo. (KOAM) — The Missouri State Highway Patrol say a Carthage, Mo. boy, 6, was killed in a boating incident Friday about 11:15 a.m. on Table Rock Lake, south of Hollister, Mo.

Bethany Roy, 31, of Carthage was operating the 1999 Maxum Open Motorboat.

“Victim was riding a kneeboard behind vessel on Table Rock Lake in Clevenger Cove. The skier/victim fell off kneeboard. As operator attempted to return to the skier/victim, the skier swam toward the rear of the vessel and was caught by the vessel propeller while the vessel was still in reverse. The victim was pronounced deceased.”

Next of kin are notified according to the preliminary report. Names of juveniles are withheld as per MSHP media policy.
