Sunny and hot weekend; rain returns next week
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) - The cold front that’s caused a bulk of this week’s precipitation has sagged to our south, slowly taking the rain, clouds, and humidity with it. By sunset tonight, most rain will be cleared. Some patchy AM fog in areas that saw precipitation today is likely. Friday afternoon will be mostly sunny and seasonable with comfortable humidity (a few stray showers are possible in the highest elevations in the late afternoon/evening, however). Saturday and Sunday will be much warmer, potentially reaching 90 degrees in the lowlands each day. Humidity will increase a bit, but won’t be oppressive. However, at the start of the new work week, an approaching system will increase our chances for heavy rain and thunderstorms, and will also increase our humidity. So, even though air temperatures won’t be as high next week, expect it to feel fairly muggy. Any and all rain is welcome at this point-- West Virginia is one of only two states in the country with 100% of the state being under some level of drought (the other is South Carolina). Hopefully next week’s rain, which is expected each day of the week, will be soaking enough to relieve us of some of these extremely dry conditions.
