CASHION, Okla. ( KFOR ) — The entire town of Cashion has been left in the dark since Tuesday night’s storm, leaving most residents with nowhere to turn.

For days, Mitzie Jump and the town of Cashion have been left without power.

    “It’s been difficult,” said Jump.

Residents have said they are now suffering through the summer heat.

“If I get too hot, I risk an asthma attack. My roommate has a CPD and he also has a heart condition and a pacemaker. He couldn’t spend the night here,” said Jump.

Not having electricity is also taking a toll on others in the city.

“I am so stressed right now. It’s just because I’m having to miss work,” said Tammy Pike, a resident. “We’ve lost everything in our freezers and refrigerators.”

Residents say they’ve been forced to buy generators and some are even staying in hotels just to stay cool.

“No sleep, migraines, just it’s been horrible,” said Pike.

So far, OG&E said they have restored 76% of the power lost during the storms.

“It’s about 12,000 customers that we still have yet to energize,” said Chad Guthrie, Director of Distribution Construction. “Our Crescent area and Cashion area, we’ll see those restoration efforts extend well into tomorrow, but we’ll see restoration efforts later.”

While crews work to restore electricity in the metro and beyond, people living in Cashion said they’re running out of time.

“Sticking it out. I mean, that’s all I can do. I’ve exhausted every avenue I can, and there’s nothing left,” said Pike.
