The Long Island Junior Soccer League (LIJSL), the largest league in the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA), has the largest scholarship program in Eastern New York. The league distributed 29 scholarships at the LIJSL Scholarship Breakfast on Sunday, July 21 at the Huntington Hilton. Jamestown Police Nab City Man for Possessing Loaded Pistol, Methamphetamine
A traffic stop on Jamestown's south side Thursday evening led to weapon and drug charges for a city man. Jamestown Police pulled over a vehicle in the area of Camp Street and May Street for an observed infraction at about 9:30 PM and saw drug paraphernalia in plain view. Officers completed a search of the vehicle and determined that 40-year-old Daniel Hallowell was allegedly in possession of a loaded semi-automatic pistol without a valid permit, as well as a quantity of methamphetamine. Hallowell was charged with 2nd-degree criminal possession of a weapon and 7th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and was held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court.
