City takes action on fire department equipment & golf carts
Danville’s Public Services Committee Tuesday accepted a grant for fire department protective equipment and approved a lease agreement for golf carts. The 48 thousand dollars will be from the Assistance to Firefighters Grant. It will cover 90% of the expenses for the replacement of eleven sets of personal protective gear. The grant requires a 10 percent local match, so the city will have to pay 48 hundred dollars.

It was a special time outside Danville Stadium late Tuesday afternoon and evening. Leading up to the Danville Dans game with Illinois Valley, VA Illiana Health Care had VET FEST set up outside the stadium behind home plate. Veterans who served our country can now receive additional coverage for presumptive conditions, thanks to the PACT ACT, which is the Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics Act of 2022. This bought about new benefits for injuries from toxic chemicals.
Outing helps Victim assitance program
On July 19, 2024, Vermilion County State’s Attorney, Jacqueline Lacy and the Victim Assistance Program hosted their 29th Annual Victim Assistance Golf Outing at Turtle Run Golf Club in Danville. Golfers came out to enjoy the beautiful day and to promote the Victim Assistance Program. Local residents and businesses showed their support with monetary and in-kind donations. As a result, the Victim Assistance Program was able to raise more than $11,000.
