Much-needed stormy weather expected through Labor Day Weekend

Tonight : mostly cloudy and muggy with a few showers. Lows will be in the lower 70s to middle 70s.
Tomorrow : An area of high pressure will continue moving northeast and weakening. This will allow a cold front to move toward Alabama from the northwest, and an upper-level low to sit over Louisiana/Texas. It will be partly cloudy, hot, and humid with scattered showers and storms. This will be welcome rain to the region. It has been 22 days since we’ve had measurable rain in Birmingham. High temperatures will be in the middle 90s, and the heat index will be around 100-105°.
It will be warm and muggy with a few showers possible at the high school football games kickoff. Temperatures will be in the 80s.
Labor Day Weekend Outlook : A cold front stalls north of Alabama this weekend. Saturday through Monday will be partly cloudy, hot, and humid with much-needed scattered showers and storms. Some downpours will be possible. However, it will not be a washout, so keep your plans. High temperatures will be in the lower to middle 90s, and the heat index will be around 100°.
Football Forecasts : It will be a hot and humid weekend across Central Alabama with scattered storms during the afternoon and early evening. This will impact tailgating in Tuscaloosa and Auburn. 6 PM Kickoff weather in Tuscaloosa will be partly cloudy with a slight chance for a shower and temps. in the 80s. It will be partly cloudy in Auburn for the 6:30 PM kickoff with a slight chance for a shower and temps. in the 80s.
Next Week’s Outlook : A cold front will move into Alabama on Monday setting off scattered storms. Highs will be in the lower 90s. The front will slowly drift south across Alabama Tuesday through Thursday. Each day will be partly cloudy with scattered storms. It will become cooler with highs in the 80s each day. Then we finally dry out on Friday with highs in the 80s.
Tracking the Tropics : A disorganized tropical wave is located over the Central Tropical Atlantic. Some slow development is possible, and a tropical depression could form early next week as the wave moves WNW toward the Lesser Antilles. NHC is giving this system a medium chance of developing.
There is also another wave just off Africa that has a low chance to develop over the next 7 days.
